Brief History

Founded in 2005 in the Ann Arbor, MI area, Crystal Creek Media quickly began producing film shorts and promotional videos.   After producing several short films and commercial projects, such as a promotional for the Titan Century 5000 disaster relief unit (marketed to the Department of Homeland Security), plans were begun for a feature film.  By 2009, pre-production planning was being undertaken on a serious scale.

With investors attracted and story concept approved, a script was soon in the making.  Executive Producer Mark Knudsen functioned as the primary screenwriter in fleshing out the story concept into actual dialogue and intriguing settings.  In the summer of 2010, principle photography began on CREED OF GOLD.   It took a small army of camera men, makeup artists, lighting technicians, set designers, actors and extras to translate the script onto film (or more precisely pixels of digital code).

Since the production of CREED OF GOLD, Crystal Creek Media has been involved with numerous other films such as Indescribable, Christmas Grace, and Unexpected Places.

Key to Crystal Creek’s vision of excellence in the creative arts is using ground-breaking technology.  Less than a decade ago, filming a feature film in high definition on the scale of CREED OF GOLD would have been virtually impossible for an independent film company. However, the recent revolutionary new advancements in cinematic technology have slashed the costs while allowing the project to have higher picture quality than that filmed on recent industry-leading HD video cameras. When Canon came out with a new firmware upgrade in March 2010 which allowed for digital cinema creation on an SLR camera, history was made. For more information on how CREED OF GOLD was shot on the Canon EOS 5D Mark II HDSLR camera, visit our page on New Technology.

Vision & Values

The mission of Crystal Creek Media is to produce entertaining films that address culturally relevant topics from a Biblical worldview and assist other filmmakers who have a similar vision.

Throughout the ages, Bible-believing men and women have been at the forefront of culture, leading the charge in everything from scientific development to culture-shaping artwork.  We follow in the footsteps of these common Christian individuals who did uncommon things and thus lead their culture and forever impacted ours. We salute men such as musician Johann Sebastian Bach and author John Bunyan, men such as Renaissance painter Masaccio and piercing Christian apologist C.S. Lewis, and men such as scientist Louis Pasture and composer George Frideric Handel.

We believe in three fundamental principles of Christian art: Creativity, Excellence, and Holiness. It is around those three principles which we seek to structure our artwork.  We trust that artwork thus produced will inspire both our nation and our world.
